Glass Bead Blasting Media

Glass Beads

Glass Beads are well known blasting agent for cleaning and conditioning surfaces. Glass beads are manufactured from ground and calibrated high quality glass cullet, melted into spheres and annealed to achieve uniform and controlled internal stress and improved fracture toughness. Compared to precision abrasives, glass beads provide a considerably smoother and more beautiful finished product. The maximum blast pressure for glass bead blasting is 80 psi and for pressure blasting, the maximum blast pressure is 40 psi. It removes many various sorts of surface imperfections, including burrs, rust and paint removal while maintaining the surface easiness. Glass beads can be used approximately several times which makes it cost effective and pocket friendly.

Key benefits of using Glass Beads Abrasive Blasting Media

Versatile Cleaning and Finishing: Glass beads are excellent for a variety of tasks, including cleaning, peening (strengthening metal), deburring, and cosmetic finishing. They can remove contaminants like scale, rust, and paint without significantly altering the base material.

Cosmetic Finishing: Glass beads produce a smooth, clean, and bright satin finish. This makes them ideal for applications where appearance is important, such as decorative metalwork, automotive parts, and stainless steel finishing.

Minimal Surface Damage: Due to their spherical shape, glass beads are less aggressive than angular abrasives. They are less likely to cause significant surface damage or create a harsh profile, making them suitable for delicate parts or surfaces where dimensional tolerances are critical.

Recyclable and Reusable: Glass beads can be recycled and reused multiple times, contributing to cost-effectiveness and reducing waste. Their durability allows for extended use before needing replacement.

Chemically Inert: Glass beads are chemically inert, meaning they won’t react with the material being blasted. This is important for preventing contamination or unwanted chemical reactions, especially in sensitive applications.
